Iodides
4-chloro-3-iodoaniline
These compounds have the same murcko framework: benzene, and at least 3 kinds of functional groups( —I,—Cl,—NH2).
Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution (EAS): Iodobenzene can undergo typical electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions, similar to benzene. The presence of the iodine atom makes the ring more reactive toward electrophiles due to its electron-donating inductive effect. Common EAS reactions include nitration, halogenation, sulfonation, and Friedel-Crafts reactions.
Grignard Reaction: Chlorobenzene can react with magnesium metal to form phenylmagnesium chloride, which can then react with various electrophiles to introduce new functional groups onto the aromatic ring.
Schiff Base Formation: Aniline can react with 【aldehydes|https://www.ambeed.com/aldehydes.html】 and 【ketones|https://www.ambeed.com/ketones.html】 to form Schiff bases, which are important intermediates in organic synthesis.
