The filtrate was concentrated to dryness and was purified on a 40 g silica gel cartridge eluted with 0 to 20percent CH3OH/DCM to give the title compound (90 mg, 0.58 mmol, 52percent) as a white solid. 1 H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) delta ppm 9.12 (br. s., 1 H), 7.56 (s, 1 H), 4.45 (br. s., 2 H), 3.64 (s, 3 H), 2.21 (s, 3 H).
	With hydrazine; In ethanol; water; at 100℃;	To a solution of <strong>[35445-32-0]ethyl 1,4-dimethyl-1H-imidazole-5-carboxylate</strong> (2.6 g, 14 mmol) in EtOH (16 mL) at room temperature is added hydrazine in water (4 mL, 102.9 mmol) slowly over 2 min The mixture is then stirred at 100° C. overnight. The mixture is concentrated and lyophilized to give the title compound (2.3 g, 97percent) as a white solid, which can be used without further purification. LC/MS (m/z): 155 (M+H).
