4.11 g With acetic acid; at 20 - 80℃; for 54h; To a mixture of 2-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-oxoethyl thiocyanate (5.0 g, 20.33 mmol) and potassium thiocyanate (4.35 g, 44.72 mmol) in acetic acid (100 mL) was added <strong>[40594-29-4]2,4-difluorophenylhydrazine hydrochloride</strong> (4.03 g, 22.36 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 48 h, and then heated at 80 C. for 6 h. The reaction mixture was added to water (100 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (3×100 mL). The combined organic extracts were dried over magnesium sulfate and filtered. Celite (diatomaceous filter aid) was added to the filtrate and the resulting mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting solid was purified by chromatography on silica gel eluting with 0 to 50% ethyl acetate:hexane to provide the title compound as a solid (4.11 g). [0177] 1H NMR delta 8.32 (s, 1H), 7.62 (d, 1H), 7.33 (s, 1H) 7.31-7.33 (m, 1H), 6.71 (s, 1H), 6.62-6.70 (m, 2H), 6.51-6.56 (m, 1H), 1.78 (br s, 1H).
