Organic DTDC dye nanoparticles were prepared by means of the ?ion-association? method [9]. Typically, rapid addition of aqueous base solution of PVP (3mL: [PVP]=0.4mg/mL, [NaOH]=0.1mM; aqueous base solution was for preventing dye decolorization upon protonation [9]) into ultrasonicated methanol solution of 70-75muL containing both native DTDC cations (0.5mM) and TFPB anions (2mM), at the molar ratio (rho=[TFPB]/[DTDC]) changing from 1 to 6, produced almost clear purple-blue suspension. The characteristic Tyndall scattering gave confirmatory evidence that ion-association between cationic DTDC+ and anionic TFPB- led to the formation of ion-pair-based DTDC nanoparticles. All the measurements were conducted after 2h storage of the samples at room temperature. |
