To this mixture was added 23.6 mL (2.0 M in CH2Cl2, 2.0 eq) of oxalyl chloride. Lastly, 90 muL of DMF was added and the mixture was stirred vigorously at room temperature until homogenous (~9 hours). The mixture was then concentrated and purified with a short silica column to give 3.2 grams (94%) of the known (Sen & Sengupta (1985) supra) 8 as a colorless oil. 1H-NMR (500 MHz, CDCl3): 8.00 (s, 1H), 2.57 (s, 3H). |
