Chemistry Organic Building Blocks Sulfonyl Hydrazides
Sulfonyl hydrazides are considered as substitutes for commonly employed organic synthesis reagents or active pharmaceutical ingredients such as sulfinic acids, their salts, or sulfonyl halides.
Sulfonyl hydrazides are generally regarded as excellent building blocks with significant utility in various reactions for the formation of C–S, C–C, and C–N bonds, as sulfur, carbon, or nitrogen sources, respectively.
Since 2017, several innovative electrochemical syntheses that utilize sulfonyl hydrazides as radical precursors have been created. These syntheses include cascade reactions, heterocycle functionalization, and a continuous flow method combined with electrochemical synthesis.
Sulfonyl hydrazides are commonly utilized in organic transformations or for synthesizing active pharmaceutical substances as substitutes for sulfinic acids and their salts, as well as sulfonyl halides, in chemical reactions.
Sulfonyl hydrazides offer a range of benefits over other sulfonic derivatives and sulfonyl halides, including ease of handling, stability, moisture compatibility, and noncorrosiveness. As a result, they serve as excellent building blocks and are highly valuable in a wide variety of chemical reactions.
