Chemistry Heterocyclic Building Blocks Thiazolidines
Thiazolidine is a saturated, heterocyclic organic compound represented by the chemical formula (CH2)2(NH)S. This compound consists of a 5-membered ring that contains a thioether group and an amine group in positions 1 and 3, respectively. Thiazolidine is the sulfur-based equivalent of oxazolidine and is found in the form of a colorless liquid.
Thiazolidine and thiazoline are significant heterocyclic frameworks that occur in multiple natural products and synthetic compounds with biological significance, such as anticonvulsants, antidepressants, sedatives, antihypertensives, anti-inflammatories, antihistamines, and antiarthritics.
A heterocyclic compound called thiazolidine consists of a saturated ring containing five members. The ring contains a thioether group and an amine group at the 1 and 3 positions, respectively.
Prodrug derivatives of thiazolidines have been utilized to enhance the topical anti-inflammatory activity of a variety of steroids that possess a 3-carbonyl group.
