KL001 is a first-in-class cryptochrome (CRY, a blue light-sensitive flavoprotein involved in regulating circadian rhythms in plants and animals) stabilizer that specifically interacts with CRY1 and CRY2. KL001 prevents the ubiquitin-dependent degradation of CRY, thereby extending the circadian rhythm period. KL001 has the potential to control fasting-induced gluconeogenesis.0
