Azides are a class of chemical compounds that contain the functional group –N₃, consisting of three nitrogen atoms connected in a linear arrangement. Azides are highly reactive and can participate in a variety of chemical reactions, notably the Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition ("click chemistry") to form triazoles. They are also widely used in material science, in medicinal chemistry for drug development, and in bioconjugation techniques.
