54% With sodium carbonate In 1,4-dioxane; water at 0 - 20℃; for 5 h; At 0 °C, to a solution of 2-amino-3,3,3-trifluoropropanoic acid (475 mg, 3.32 minol) in dioxane (15 mL) and water (15 mL) was added sodium carbonate (1.90 g, 17.93 minol) and Cbz-Cl (624 mg, 3.65 minol). The resultingminxture was stirred for 5 h at room temperature. When reaction was done, the pH value of the reactionminxture was adJusted to 2-3 with hydrogen chloride solution (4 M). The resultingminxture was extracted with ethyl acetate (50 mL x 3). The organic phases were combined, washed with brine and dried over Na2SO4. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by reverse phase flash chromatography eluting with acetonitrile in water (15percent to 35percent gradient in 30 min) to yield 2-[[(benzyloxy)carbonyljaminoj-3,3,3-trifluoropropanoic acid as white solid (500 mg, 54percent). MS: m/z = 276 [M-Hj.
