69% 22.7 g of N-Boc-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine-5-carboxylic acid (0.1 mol) and 120 mL of toluene were added to a 250 mL reaction flask, and 16.6 g (0.1 mol) of bromine was added dropwise at room temperature. After the completion of the addition, the reaction was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. After completion of the TLC reaction, 20 mL of sulfolane was added, the temperature was raised to 50-60 C, and 31.2 g (0.4 mol) of pyridine was added dropwise.
