YieldReaction ConditionsOperation in experiment
98% With thionyl chloride; at 0 - 80℃; for 5.0h; Synthesis of ethyl 5-bromo-2-naphthoate (2) To a solution of [1013-83-8]5-bromo-2-naphthoic acid (1, 2.0 g, 8.0 mmol) in ethanol (50 mL) was added thionyl chloride (5 mL) at 0° C. The reaction mixture was refluxed at 80° C. for 5 h. After completion, the reaction was basified with aqueous saturated sodium bicarbonate solution at 0° C. and diluted with Ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated to afford ethyl 5-bromo-2-naphthoate (2) as a white solid. Yield: 2.2 g, 98percent; MS (ESI) m/z 279 [M+1]+.
