With lithium aluminium tetrahydride; In tetrahydrofuran; at 0 - 20℃; Lithium tetrahydroaluminate (189 mg, 4.97 mmol) was added in portions to a solution of <strong>[54621-18-0]8-amino-1,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]decane-8-carboxylic acid</strong> (from Aldrich, 0.50 g, 2.5 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (20 mL) with stirring at about 0 C. The resulting mixture was slowly warmed to room temperature and stirred overnight. Fieser workup (0.2 mL H2O, 0.2 mL 10% NaOH, 0.6 mL H2O) was performed followed by filtration through Celite and concentrated to give 0.41 g of the desired product to be used without further purifications. LCMS calculated for C9H18NO3 (M+H)+: m/z=188.1. Found: 188.0
