5(6)-Carboxyfluorescein (8.6 mg, 0.023 mmol) was dissolved in anhydrous DMF (2 mL) and the solution was cooled down to 0C. N-hydroxysuccinimide (2.9 mg, 0.025 mmol) and N,N?-diisopropylcarbodiimide (4.0 mL, 0.025 mmol) were added and the solution was stirred at rt for 2 h. A solution of <strong>[120068-37-3]fipronil</strong> (10 mg, 0.023 mmol) and triethylamine (3.2 mL, 0.023 mmol) in anhydrous DMF (1 mL) was added. The reaction was stirred in the dark at rt overnight. Due to the low yield, only a little amount of compound 5 was isolated by preparative HPLC and characterized only by mass spectrometry. ESI mass spectrometry: m/z = 794.8 [M+H]+.
