Subsequently, 2.15 g of triphenylphosphine was added, and the mixture was stirred at 25° C. for 2 hours. The reaction was then quenched with 20 mE of water, and the resulting product was extracted twice with 10 mE of dichioromethane and washed with 20 mE of watet Dichloromethane was distilled off from the organic phases under reduced pressure, and the resulting residue was purified with silica gel chromatography (n-hexane:ethyl acetate=5:1) to obtain 1.38 g of 2,2-dimethyl-5-iodomethyl- 1 ,3-dioxane (5a) (yield: 79percent).
