n-Dodecyl-β-D-maltoside (Lauryl Maltoside) is a nonionic detergent that effectively stabilizes photoactive reaction center complexes (RCs) and prevents the degradation of the reaction center in Rhodobacter sphaeroides R-26. It is widely used in RNA polymerase purification and protein-lipid interaction studies.

Description
N-Dodecyl-β-D-maltoside, also known as Lauryl Maltoside, is a non-ionic detergent with strong affinity for alumina, titanium dioxide, and hematite. It facilitates the reactivation of various proteins and effectively stabilizes photoactive reaction center complexes (RCs), thereby preventing degradation of Rhodopseudomonas spheroides R-26 reaction center in solution. Additionally, it is utilized in the purification and stabilization of RNA polymerase and for the detection of protein-lipid interactions[1][2][3][4].
