Recombinant Human CSTA (N-6His, E.coli) is the human cystatin A (CSTA) expressed in Escherichia coli with an N-terminal 6×His tag. This protein belongs to class 1 of the cysteine protease inhibitor superfamily, lacks disulfide bonds and glycosylation modifications, and can inhibit the activity of papain-like proteases (such as cathepsins B, H, and L). It is involved in regulating proteolytic pathways under various disease conditions and may play a role in cancer progression.

Synonyms: Recombinant Human CSTA (N-6His, E.coli); Cystatin-A; Cystatin-AS

Biological Activity

Description
Human Cystatin A (CSTA) is a member of family 1 of the cystatin superfamily, which is characterized by lacking of disulphide bonds an carbohydrates. Cystatin A is an intracellular inhibitor regulating the activities of cysteine proteases of the papain family such as Cathepsins B, H and L. Cystatin A is also implicated in a number of disease states. Due to altered proteolytic state in cancer progression, Cystatin A may play a role in the proteolytic pathways.
Protein Species Human
Expression System E.coli
Tag N-6His
Protein Expression Interval Ile2-Phe98
Protein ID P01040
Endotoxin < 1 EU/µg as determined by LAL test.
Characteristics Lyophilized powder
Formulation Description Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution of 20mM Tris-HCl, 100mM NaCl, pH 8.0.
Reconstitution Method Always centrifuge tubes before opening.Do not mix by vortex or pipetting. It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100μg/ml. Dissolve the lyophilized protein in distilled water. Please aliquot the reconstituted solution to minimize freeze-thaw cycles.
For long-term storage, it is recommended to further dilute the product with a solution containing carrier proteins (e.g., 0.1% BSA, 10% FBS, or 5% HSA). For serum-free cultures or in vivo animal experiments where BSA, FBS, or HSA cannot be present in the cytokine preparation, trehalose may be used as an alternative carrier. Aliquots should be stored frozen at -20°C to -80°C.
Note: Low-adsorption tubes are recommended for aliquot storage, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided. The dilution concentration for aliquoting should not be lower than 10 μg/mL, and the aliquot volume should be no less than 10 μL.
Aliquoted protein remains stable for up to 3 months when stored at ≤ -20°C.
