Recombinant Human CST1 (C-6His, HEK293) is a human-derived recombinant Cystatin-SN protein expressed in HEK293 human cells and tagged with a C-terminal 6×His tag. This protein belongs to the cysteine protease inhibitor family 2 and is naturally found in saliva, tears, urine, and semen, primarily produced and secreted by salivary glands into submandibular/sublingual saliva. It functions as an inhibitor of papain-like cysteine proteases, including cathepsins B, C, H, and L.

Synonyms: Recombinant Human CST1 (C-6His, HEK293); Cystatin-SN; Cystain-SA-I

Biological Activity

Description
Cystatin-SN is a member of family 2 of the Cystatin superfamily and a cysteine proteinase inhibitor found in saliva, tears, urine, and seminal fluid. Together with Cystatins S and SA, it is produced by the salivary gland and secreted largely in the submandibular/sublingual saliva. Cystatin-SN inhibits members of the Papain family including Cathepsins B, C, H and L.
Protein Species Human
Expression System Human Cells
Tag C-6His
Protein Expression Interval Trp21-Ser141
Protein ID P01037
Endotoxin < 1 EU/µg as determined by LAL test.
Characteristics Lyophilized powder
Formulation Description Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution of 20mM MES, 150mM NaCl, pH 5.5.
Reconstitution Method Always centrifuge tubes before opening.Do not mix by vortex or pipetting. It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100μg/ml. Dissolve the lyophilized protein in distilled water. Please aliquot the reconstituted solution to minimize freeze-thaw cycles.
For long-term storage, it is recommended to further dilute the product with a solution containing carrier proteins (e.g., 0.1% BSA, 10% FBS, or 5% HSA). For serum-free cultures or in vivo animal experiments where BSA, FBS, or HSA cannot be present in the cytokine preparation, trehalose may be used as an alternative carrier. Aliquots should be stored frozen at -20°C to -80°C.
Note: Low-adsorption tubes are recommended for aliquot storage, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided. The dilution concentration for aliquoting should not be lower than 10 μg/mL, and the aliquot volume should be no less than 10 μL.
Aliquoted protein remains stable for up to 3 months when stored at ≤ -20°C.
