Recombinant Human ITGA5 (C-6His, HEK293) is a human-derived recombinant integrin α-5 protein expressed in HEK293 cells with a C-terminal 6×His tag. Belonging to the integrin α-chain family, it contains seven FG-GAP repeats and forms a fibronectin and laminin receptor complex by pairing with integrin β1. This protein recognizes the RGD sequence in ligands, mediates cell adhesion and signal transduction, and is associated with HIV-1 infection-enhanced angiogenesis. It is expressed in fibroblasts, endothelial cells, peripheral T cells, and platelets.

Biological Activity

Description
Integrin α-5 belongs to the Integrin α chain family and contains 7 FG-GAP repeats. Integrin α-5 joins with Integrin-β1 to form a fibronectin and laminin receptor which recognizes the sequence R-G-D in its ligands. In case of HIV-1 infection, the interaction with extracellular viral Tat protein seems to enhance angiogenesis in Kaposi's sarcoma lesions. It is expressed on fibroblasts, endothelial cells, peripheral T cells and platelets. Integrin α-5 undergoes post-translational cleavage in the extracellular domain to yield disulfide-linked light and heavy chains. In addition to adhesion, ITGA5 participates in cell-surface mediated signalling.
Protein Species Human
Expression System Human Cells
Tag C-6His
Protein Expression Interval Phe42-Tyr995
Protein ID P08648
Endotoxin < 1 EU/µg as determined by LAL test.
Characteristics Lyophilized powder
Formulation Description Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution of 20mM PB, 150mM NaCl, pH 7.2.
Reconstitution Method Always centrifuge tubes before opening.Do not mix by vortex or pipetting. It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100μg/ml. Dissolve the lyophilized protein in distilled water. Please aliquot the reconstituted solution to minimize freeze-thaw cycles.
For long-term storage, it is recommended to further dilute the product with a solution containing carrier proteins (e.g., 0.1% BSA, 10% FBS, or 5% HSA). For serum-free cultures or in vivo animal experiments where BSA, FBS, or HSA cannot be present in the cytokine preparation, trehalose may be used as an alternative carrier. Aliquots should be stored frozen at -20°C to -80°C.
Note: Low-adsorption tubes are recommended for aliquot storage, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided. The dilution concentration for aliquoting should not be lower than 10 μg/mL, and the aliquot volume should be no less than 10 μL.
Aliquoted protein remains stable for up to 3 months when stored at ≤ -20°C.
