YM-244769 is a potent, selective, orally active Na+/Ca2+ exchanger (NCX) inhibitor, preferentially inhibiting NCX3, with IC50 values of 18 nM and 50 nM for NCX outward currents (Ca2+ influx mode). It effectively prevents hypoxia/reoxygenation-induced SH-SY5Y neuronal cell damage and increases urine output and electrolyte excretion in mice.
