A highly selective cobalt-catalyzed hydrogermylation of alkynes has been developed using complexes with inexpensive and readily accessible triazine-based PNP ligands. This method enables the selective synthesis of (E)-β-vinylgermanes from terminal alkynes, which is compatible with both alkyl- and aryl-substituted acetylenes and the selective synthesis of (Z)-α-isomers from internal alkynes. The process is characterized by exceptional selectivity, resulting in high yields.
