Abstract

Mycobacteria Tuberculosis is the bacteria responsible for the infectious disease known as Tuberculosis (TB). TB results in over a million deaths annually worldwide with millions more being affected by the disease. 1 Research in this area has potential to improve the lives of millions of people and is in line with the World Health Organization’s goal to intensify research and innovation in the treatment and cures for tuberculosis. 2 SLU 2345 has demonstrated activity against TB and further research is necessary to characterize the binding site and investigate its mode of action on the target. This research is focused on fluorescent labelling of SLU 2345 via click chemistry and other known synthetic methods. Progress on the synthesis of the tagged analogs is currently underway.
