100% With hydrogen In methanol at 23℃; for 16 h; 10percent Pd/C (600 mg) was added, under argon, to a solution of 3-(1-benzyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridin-4-yl)pyridine (950 mg) in methanol (10 ml), and the resulting mixture was stirred for 16 h at 23° C. under a hydrogen atmosphere. The progress of the reaction was monitored by LC-MS analysis and, when the reaction was complete, the mixture was filtered over Celite and washed with methanol. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo, and the crude product was used directly in the next synthesis step. Yield: quantitative
