74% In N,N-dimethyl-formamide; at 50℃; for 20h; In a 100 mL round bottom, one necked flask set upwith a magnetic stir bar and a reflux condensor, 7-Hydroxy-Quinoline (10.0 g, 67.03 mmol) was dissolved in DMF.Ethyl-6-iodohexanoate (17.9 g, 80 mmol) was added. Thereaction mixture was stirred at 50 C. for 20 h. Solvent wasremoved under vacuum to give a crude oil. The crude oil waspurified on a silica gel column with a gradient of hexanes/ethylacetate as eluent to yield the desired product, compound17 as a colorless oil. The yield was 13.7 g (74%).Analysis: 1Eta NMR (CDC13, 600 MHz): delta6.79 (d,1Eta, J=8.0); 6.11 (bs, 2Eta) 4.14 (q, 2Eta, J=7.4); 3.27 (t, 2Eta,J=5.4); 3.20 (t, 2Eta, J=7.4) 2.67 (t, 2Eta, J=6.4); 2.32 (t, 2Eta,J=7.4); 1.92 (t, 2Eta, J=7.4) 1.72-1.56 (m; 4Eta) 1.36 (m, 2Eta)1.25 (t, 3Eta, J=7.4)
