With potassium carbonate; In acetonitrile; at 90℃; To a solution of 7-methylspiro[2H-benzofuran-3,l'-cyclopropane]-4-ol (Intermediate 18, 50mg, 0.2838mmol) in dry acetonitrile (lmL) dipotassium carbonate (58.826mg, 0.4256mmol) and 5-chloro-2- nitro-pyridine (42.737mg, 0.2696mmol) were added and the reaction mixture was stirred overnight at 90C. After cooling the reaction was quenched with water (1ml), diluted with brine (5ml), and extracted with ethyl acetate (2x10ml). The organic layer was dried (Na2S04), filtered and evaporated to give the title compound as white solid that was used in the next step without further purification. LC/MS: QC_3_M IN: Rt = 2.036 min; 299 [M+H]+.
