YieldReaction ConditionsOperation in experiment
With hydrogenchloride; In ethanol; water; at 100℃; General procedure: Into a 500mL round bottom flask equipped with a magnetic stir bar was placed methyl 2-amino-6-methoxybenzoate (25 g, 149.6 mmol), ethanol (200 mL), cyanamide (9.43 g, 224 mmol), and concentrated HCl (6 mL). The mixture was allowed to stir at reflux for 6 hours. At one hour intervals, concentrated HCl (0.5 mL) was added. The reaction mixture was allowed to cool to room temperature and the solid, 7i, was isolated via filtration and washed with ethanol. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) delta ppm 3.88 (s, 3 H), 6.96 (dd, J=8.2, 3.1 Hz, 2 H), 7.69 (t, J=8.3 Hz, 1 H), 8.28 (br. s., 2 H), 12.67 (br. s., 1 H)
