55% General procedure: Equimolar quantities of the potassium salt 3 (2.43 g, 0.01 mol) and the appropriate N-aryl-2-chloroacetamide derivative 5a-h (0.01 mol) indry DMF (20 mL) was heated on a water bath for 3 h in the presence ofcatalytic amount of potassium iodide (KI). After cooling to room temperature,reaction mixture was poured on to crushed ice. The precipitatedsolids were filtered, dried and crystalized from ethanol to givethe corresponding target compounds 6a-h respectively.
