YieldReaction ConditionsOperation in experiment
With hydrogen bromide; In water; at 20 - 120℃; b) 4-(2-bromoethyl)pyridine Aqueous hydrobromic acid (3.5 mL) was added drop wise to 2-(pyridin-4-yl) ethanol at room temperature and it was heated slowly to 120 C. The reaction mixture was stirred for 3 h at 120 C. Once the starting material consumed (monitored by TLC), reaction mixture was poured into crushed ice and extracted with ethyl acetate (3 x 15 ml_). Organic layer was washed with aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution, brine solution, dried over Na2S04 and concentrated under reduced pressure to get the crude product as pale yellow liquid (0.5 g) which was used in the next step without further purification
