toluene-4-sulfonic acid; In toluene; at 90 - 100℃; for 40h; Synthesis of 3-allyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-thieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxepine; EPO <DP n="17"/>1 Q<strong>[51792-34-8]3,4-dimethoxy thiophene</strong> (2 g, 13.88 mmol) was taken with 2-allyl propane 1,3-diol (1.9 g, 16.65 mmol) and p- toluene solphonic acid (237 mg, 1.38 mmol) in dry toluene. The mixture was allowed to stir at 90-100 0C for 40 h with continuous flow of nitrogen. The excess toluene was evaporated in vacuum. The residue was taken with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine and evaporated. The pure compound was isolated by column chromatography (silica, eluant: hexane) as a colorless liquid.1H NMR (400 MHz1 CDCI3): 2.18-2.30 (m, 3H), 3.90 (dd, 2H), 4.12 (dd, 2H), 5.08-5.15 (m, 2H), 5.76-5.82 (m, 1 H), 6.48 (s, 2H). Mass: 196 [M]+
