87% With tetrakis(triphenylphosphine) palladium(0); sodium carbonate; In water; N,N-dimethyl-formamide; at 110℃; for 24h; General procedure: To a solution of 1-(tert-butyl) 2-ethyl4-bromo-1H-pyrrole-1,2-dicarboxylate 22 [59] (141 mg, 0.443 mmol) and 4-methoxyphenylboronic acid23a (95%; 213 mg, 1.33 mmol) in DMF (7.5 mL) was added palladium-tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)(29 mg, 0.025 mmol) and a 2 M aqueous solution of sodium carbonate (2.25 mL) and the resultingreaction mixture was heated at 110 C overnight. After being cooled to room temperature water wasadded and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (3x). The combined organic phases werewashed with water (2x) and brine, dried over MgSO4 and concentrated. The crude product waspurified by automated ash column chromatography (silica gel, ethyl acetate/petroleum ether 2-20%)to afford 88 mg (81%) of 24a as a colorless solid.
