With phosphorus tribromide; In dichloromethane; at 40℃; for 0.5h;Inert atmosphere; Into a 500-mL 3-necked round-bottom flask purged and maintained with an inert atmosphere of nitrogen, was placed <strong>[55304-90-0](2,6-dichloropyridin-3-yl)methanol</strong> (10 g, 56.17 mmol), DCM (200 mL) and PBr3 (15.3 g, 56.52 mmol). The resulting solution was stirred for 30 mm at 40 C in an oil bath. The pH value of the solution was adjusted to 7 with NH4HCO3 (sat. aq.). The resulting mixture was extracted with 3 x 200 mL of DCM. The organic layers combined, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated under vacuum. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (eluting with 1:10 to 1:5 ethyl acetate/pet. ether) to give 3- (bromomethyl)-2,6-dichloropyridine as an off-white solid. MS: (ESI, m/z): 240, 242, 244 [M+H]t
