With potassium carbonate In N,N-dimethyl-formamide at 75℃; for 1h;
1
A solution of 6-(4-Bromo-2-fluoro-phenylamino)-7-fluoro-3 H-benzoimidazole-5 - carboxylic acid methyl ester (8d), iodomethane and potassium carbonate in dimethylformamide is stirred at 75 °C for one hour. The reaction mixture is diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with saturated aqueous potassium carbonate (2x), brine, and dried (Na2SO4). Flash columnchromatography (20:1 methylene chloride/ethyl acetate) provides the 3-methyl-3H- benzoimidazole compound.
