YieldReaction ConditionsOperation in experiment
80% With potassium hydroxide; In 2-ethoxy-ethanol; at 130 - 135℃; for 10h; General procedure: To a stirred solution of benzonitrile in ethyl cellosolve (4.0 mL)was added the 2-cyanoguanidine and potassium hydroxide. Thetemperature of the reaction mixture was gradually raised to130-135 C and stirring was continued for 10 h. The reactionmixturewas then cooled to room temperature and separated solidswere filtered and washed with water. Recrystallization from DMFyielded white solids, which were dried under high vacuum at 60 C for 2 h. The purity of 1,3,5-triazine derivatives was checked by TLCand all the derivatives were characterize using NMR and MS techniques. All compounds are stable in air and light over a periodof several months.
