YieldReaction ConditionsOperation in experiment
13.5% nBuLi (1.5 M, 3.0 mmol, 2.0 mL) was added at -15 °C to a solution of 1-triphenylmethyl-1H-imidazole (41) (0.931 g, 3.00 mmol) in THF (36 mL) and the mixture was stirred at rt for 30 min. After cooling the mixture to -10 °C, 1-(3-iodopropyl)-4-methyl-2,6,7-trioxabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (43) (0.904 g, 3.00 mmol) solved in THF (9 mL) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred for 25 min at -25 °C, 3 h at 0 °C, and 14 h at 10 °C. The reaction was stopped by adding H2O (1 mL) and the solvent was evaporated. The residue was resolved in CH2Cl2 and washed three times with H2O. The combined organic layers were dried over MgSO4. Purification was realized by CC (n-Pentane/EtOAc/NEt3 = 9/3/0.5).Colourless crystals; Yield: 195 mg (13.5percent); mp 215 °C. IR (KBr) nu cm-1: 3418, 2874, 1492, 1448, 1398, 1266, 1190, 1131, 1055; 500 MHz 1H NMR (CDCl3): delta = 0.74 (s, 3H, CH3), 1.33 (t, J = 7.7 Hz, 2H, CH2CH2CH2C), 1.61 (m, 2H, CH2CH2CH2), 1.85 (t, J = 8.0 Hz, 2H, CH2CH2CH2C), 3.75 (s, 6H, OCH2), 6.67 (d, J = 1.4 Hz, 1H, CH[5H-Imid.]), 6.95 (d, J = 1.4 Hz, 1H, CH[4H-Imid.]), 7.11-7.13 (m, 6H, CHar), 7.30-7.32 (m, 9H, CHar); 100 MHz 13C NMR (CDCl3): delta = 16.9 (CH3), 23.4 (CH2CH2CH2C), 32.5 (CH2CH2CH2), 38.2 (CH2CH2CH2C), 74.7 (OCH2), 75.2 (C(C6H5)3), 111.1 (Cq), 123.3 (CH[5C-Imid.]), 128.2 (CH[4C-Imid.]), 130.0 (CHar), 130.3 (CHar), 132.3 (CHar), 144.9 (C[2C-Imid.]), 152.8 (Cq); MS (EI, 70 eV): m/z (percent) = 480 (100) [M+], 467 (12), 455 (40), 443 (55); HMRS (EI) calcd. for C31H32N2O3: 480.2413; found 480.2401.
