90% With toluene-4-sulfonic acid; at 20℃; General procedure: Benzyl alcohol (1 mmol, 0. 2364 g) and thiol (1.1 mmol,0.1543 g) were mixed with catalyst, p-toluenesulfonic acid(PTSA) and were stirred for an appropriate time at roomtemperature. The reaction mixture was poured and dilutedwith ethyl acetate (5 mL) and the catalyst was allowed tosettle. The ethyl acetate supernatant was poured off, rinsedwith ethyl acetate (5 mL) and the mixed organic solventwas evaporated under reduced pressure to obtain crudeproduct, which was purified using column chromatography(Silica gel: 230-400 mesh, petroleum ether (40-60 C):ethyl acetate = 9:1) to obtain a pure product.
