94% Preparation 34 (+)-Dimethyl (2R)-2-[(tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino]butanedioate The title compound was obtained as a white solid in 94% yield, from D-aspartic acid dimethyl ester hydrochloride and di-tert-butyl dicarbonate, following the procedure described in Preparation 33. 1H-NMR (CDCl3 400 MHz) delta: 1.42 (s, 9H), 2.81 (dd, 1H), 3.00 (dd, 1H), 3.70 (s, 3H), 3.75 (s, 3H), 4.58 (m, 1H), 5.48 (m, 1H). LRMS: m/z (ES+) 284 [MNa+]. [alpha]D=+18.1 (c=0.199, methanol).
