51% With phosphorus pentachloride; at 20℃; for 0.166667h; To a 100 mL mortar vas added sodium dodecane-1-sulfonate 222b (1 g, 3.67 mmol,l.OO equiv) and phosphorous pentachloride (3.03 g, 14.55 mrnol, 4.00 equiv.). The resulting20 mixture Vas stirred at room temperature for lO min. The mixture was washed with ether (50mL x 3), the solids were filtered out, and the filtrate vas concentrated under vacuum to givedodecane-1-sulfonyl chloride 222c (500 mg, 51%) as a white solid.
With thionyl chloride; In dichloromethane; for 4.0h;Inert atmosphere; Reflux; General procedure: Sulfonate sodium salts 6 (3.8 mmol) were dissolved in anhydrous dichloromethane (0.1 M solution), and thionyl chloride (3.0 equiv) was added under an Ar atmosphere. The stirred suspension was heated and refluxed for 4 h. The reaction mixture was cooled and poured onto crushed ice for 1 h. The compound 1-methylhomopiperazine (5.8 mmol) was added dropwise, and the reaction mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred for 2 h. NaOH solution (10%) was added (final pH 13), and the mixture was extracted with chloroform. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous MgSO4, and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by chromatography on silica gel with 5% MeOH/CHCl3 to resolve the corresponding amides.
