74.15% With sulfuric acid; In N,N-dimethyl-formamide; at 100℃; for 20h;pH 2; To a suspension of <strong>[33142-21-1]ethyl 2-chloro-3-oxopropanoate</strong> (12.3 g, 84.74 mmol) in DMF (50 mL) was added con. H2S04 to adjusted pH= 2. To the mixture was added 509d (5 g, 43.47 mmol) and the mixture was allowed to stir at 100C for 20 hours. After cooling to room temperature, the mixture was poured into water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine and dried over anhydrous Na2S04. After concentrated in vacuo, the resulting residue was purified using flash column chromatography on silica gel, eluting with petroleum ether: ethyl acetate (20/1-5/1) to provide 509e (6.8 g, 74.15%)
