75% With copper(l) iodide; caesium carbonate; 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene; In nitromethane; water; at 20 - 100℃; for 3h; To a nitromethane (0.1 mL) solution of 2-<strong>[13781-53-8](thiophen-3-yl)acetonitrile</strong> (4j) (30 mg, 0.244 mmol) wereadded H2O (1.0 mL), DBU (74 mg, 0.487 mmol), copper (I) iodide (9.3 mg, 0.0487 mmol), cesium(I) carbonate (40 mg, 0.122 mmol) at room temperature. The reaction mixture was heated at 100 Cfor 2 h and then poured into water (50 mL). The organic layer was separated and the aqueous layerwas extracted with AcOEt. The combined organic layer was dried over MgSO4. The solvent wasremoved under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by preparative TLC on silica gel elutingwith AcOEt-n-hexane (1:1) to give 2-(thiophen-3-yl)acetamide (5j)S13 (26 mg, 75%) as pale yellowpowders.mp 151-152 C,
