YieldReaction ConditionsOperation in experiment
With ammonium hydroxide; at 180℃;Heating; General procedure: A total of 0.05 mol of the 2-phenyl- (1), 2-(2-chlorophenyl)- (2), 2-(3-chlorophenyl)- (3) or 2-(4-chlorophenyl)- (4) succinic acids were suspended in 20 ml of water and 0.05 mol of the 25% ammonia was gradually added. The mixture was heated in a term-regulated sand bath (ST 72 Roth, Karlsruhe, Germany) with simultaneous distillation of water. After complete removal of water, the temperature of the reaction mixture raised up to 180 C and was maintained for 1 h. The crude products were recrystallized from methanol. The physicochemical and spectral data of intermediates 5-8 have been described in a separate paper.18
