General procedure: A mixture of glycine ester 1 (0.2 mmol), DDQ (0.22 mmol) and THF (1.0 mL) was stirred in a 10 mL reaction tube at room temperatureu nder argon atmosphere for 2 h, and another mixture of InCl3 (0.05 mmol) and a-hydroxy ketone 2 (0.24 mmol) in THF (1.0 mL) was mixed in another reaction tube and stirred at roomtemperature for 1 h, then the latter mixture was added into the former one and kept on stirring at room temperature for another 48 h. Solvent was removed and the crude products were purified by flash chromatography on silica gel (eluent: EA/PE = 1/12-1/4) to give products 3.
