With sodium acetate; In ethanol; at 78℃; for 3h; In a clean 50mL single-mouth bottle,4.0 mmol of N- (4-methoxyphenyl) thiourea, 15.0 mL of ethanol at a mass of 95% was added, and 5.2 mmol of anhydrous sodium acetate, 5.3 mmol of ethyl chloroacetate was added with stirring, Reflux reaction 3.0h,The reaction solution was cooled to room temperature and the white solid was precipitated. The filter cake was washed with ethanol and recrystallized from a petroleum ether and ethyl acetate mixed solvent having a volume ratio of 2:3. Finally, the reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature. dried to give the product 2-(p-methoxyphenyl)imino-1,3-thiazolidin-4-one (0.70 g), the crude yield was 87.9%, mp 184-186 C.
With sodium acetate; In ethanol;Reflux; General procedure: A mixture of aryl thiourea (2) (0.04 mol) in 16.45 mL ethanol (95%) was refluxed with fused sodium acetate (0.052mol) and ethyl chloroacetate (5.65 mL) for about 4-5 h. The reaction mixture was then poured onto ice cold water and was kept overnight for complete precipitation. The precipitates obtained were filtered, dried and crystallized from ethanol(95%) [34, 35].
