YieldReaction ConditionsOperation in experiment
With sodium; In N-methyl-acetamide; methanol; 31: 6-[2,6-Dichloro-4-(2-naphthylthiomethyl)phenoxymethyl]-1-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-pyridone (compound 13) 4.8 g of sodium and 42 g of [2314-36-5]3,5-dichloro-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde were dissolved in 250 ml of methanol, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure, the residue was taken up in 200 ml of dimethylformamide, 32 g of 6-chloromethyl-4-methyl-2-pyrone were added, and the mixture was left to react at room temperature for 3 days. The dimethylformamide was then substantially removed by distillation under reduced pressure, methanol was added, and a total of 44 g of 6-(2,6-dichloro-4-formylphenoxymethyl)-4-methyl-2-pyrone of melting point 180° C. was isolated in several fractions by cooling and concentration of the mother liquor.
