69% With acetic acid; for 3h;Reflux; General procedure: A solution of indole-2-carbohydrazide 4 (210 mg, 1.2 mmol) in glacial acetic acid (15 mL) was treated with the appropriate isatin derivative 5a-i and 8a-f (1.2 mmol), or ketones 10a and 10b (1.2 mmol). The resulting reaction mixture was refluxed for four hours then cooled to r.t. The obtained precipitate was collected by filtration and dried to get a powder that was recrystallized from glacial acetic acid to furnish the titled conjugates 6a-i, 9a-f, and 11a,b.
