87% An ice-cooled solution of 5-(trifluoromethyl)-2-furoic acid (Oakwood Products, 1.65 g, 9.1 mmol) in DMF (31 mL) was treated with TEA (3.56 mL, 25.6 mmol) via syringe followed directly by HATU (4.17 g, 11.0 mmol). After 5 mi 2,6- dimethoxyaniline (Amfinecom Inc., 1.4 g, 9.1 mmol) was added. The resulting orange solution was warmed to RT and stirred for 60 mm. The mixture was then partitioned between water (130 mL) and EtOAc (2X). The combined organic layers were washed with water (1X) and brine (1X) and then were dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (eluent: 10-100% EtOAc in hexanes) to provide 363.01 (2.52 g, 87% yield) as a white solid. LCMS-ESI (pos.) m/z: 316.0 (M+H).
