79.9%	With water; iron; calcium chloride; In ethanol; at 80℃; for 5.0h;	The mixture of 2-(2-nitrophenyl)oxazole (320 mg, 0.82 mmol, 1 eq), CaCl2 (452.9 mg, 4.08 mmol, 5 eq) and Fe (455.8 mg, 8.16 mmol, 10 eq) in water (2 mL) and EtOH (10 mL) was stirred at 80C for 5 h. The mixture was cooled to 20C, and then filtered to remove the solid. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give a residue. The residue was diluted with water (10 mL) and saturated Na2C03 solution (10 mL), and then extracted with EA (20 mL *3). The combined organic layers were washed with brine (20 mL), dried over anhydrous Na2S04, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 2-(oxazol-2- yl)aniline (110 mg, 0.65 mmol, 79.9% yield), which was used directly for next step. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCf) 5 7.91 (dd, J= 1.3, 7.9 Hz, 1H), 7.73 - 7.67 (m, 1H), 7.30 (s, 1H), 7.27 - 7.21 (m, 1H), 6.84 - 6.75 (m, 2H), 5.95 (brs, 2H).
	nickel; In ethanol;	EXAMPLE 1 Preparation of 2-(2-oxazolyl)benzenamine To 19.0 g of 2-(2-nitrophenyl)oxazole, (prepared by the procedure of W. E. Cass, J. Am. Chem. Soc., 64, 785 [1942]) 3.0 g of Raney-Nickel catalyst (purchased from Aldrich Chemical Company, Milwaukee, Wisc. 53201) and 200 ml ethanol were combined and reduced at ambient temperature and at a H2 pressure of 5-50 psi on a Paar Hydrogenator until the hydrogen uptake ceased. The catalyst was filtered through celite under a blanket of nitrogen. The solvent was removed on a rotary evaporator. 17.4 g of crude product with m.p. 31-32 was obtained and used in the next step.
