YieldReaction ConditionsOperation in experiment
87% With hydrogenchloride In ethanol; waterReflux [0191] Step 2. A mixture of Compound 6-C (5.5 g, 0.0 14 mol) in concentrated HC1 (70 mL) and ethanol (70 mL) was refluxed overnight. Monitoring by thin layer chromatography (petrol ether: ethyl acetate=2: 1 and Rf at 0.3) showed the reaction was complete. The mixture was concentrated. The residue was neutralized with saturated NaHCO3 to pH > 7 and extracted with ethyl acetate (80 mL x 3). The combined organic50 layers were dried and concentrated to give Compound 6-D (4.1 g, 87percent) as a light brown solid.
